I explain low glycemic foods diet

If you have spent any time at all researching the best diet plans available, or looking for a more natural way to control your weight, the odds are that you have heard something about the Glycemic Index. But, do you really understand what this simple approach to weight management is all about? If not, here are the basics:

Used initially by diabetes to control their glucose levels, The Glycemic Index is a simple all-natural approach to weight loss that uses a person's personal tolerance for sugars and carbohydrates to both lose pounds and maintain a healthy weight. The theory behind the Glycemic Index goes something like this: if you fill up on too many sweets and sugar-producing carbohydrates, you will experience severe rises and dips in your glucose levels. This will make you feel hungrier faster, even if you have eaten plenty of food to fuel your body for the day. Since this dip in blood sugar levels makes you feel hungry; you eat; and those extra calories will eventually equal extra weight on your body. To combat this unnatural hunger, which leads to unnecessary weight gain, it is best to eat foods that help you maintain a stable glucose level throughout the entire day.

If, on the other hand, you eat a good mix of low Glycemic foods such as fruits, vegetables and whole grains, you will feel satisfied longer and not need to reach for a snack an hour or two after a meal. As a matter of fact, eat the right low Glycemic foods and you will not need anything to eat between your meals at all! This will allow your body to use up all of the calories that you have previously eaten, before taking in more calories with your next meal. This approach can help you both lose those unwanted pounds and maintain your personal ideal weight.

One note here for women reading this article: men usually fair much better using this plan than women. The reason is thought to be their metabolism and the fact that most men do not eat the same amount of in-between meal snacks as women tend to. This can leave some women using the plan a bit discouraged when she sees her husband losing more weight more quickly than he is able to do. But, rest assured the plan does work.

Regardless of whether or not you see instant results when using the Glycemic Index as a way to control your weight, rest assured that the approach does work-it just takes longer to see results in some people. The key to using the Glycemic Index for weight control is patience. Just keep this simple fact in mind when feelings of impatience threaten to thwart your weight loss plans: it took awhile to put those pounds on and it will take awhile to take them off.
